I've never used found or stock footage in a project before this one, but it was fun to focus on getting lost in the motion graphics and editing this time around. The song is a remix and I wanted to complement it by putting a strong focus on the act of remixing the video footage. The energy of the video is very much driven by the editing, while the cathartic source material- an endless parade of stock footage of various older monitors being smashed- was a perfect fit to anchor the meaning and impact of the track. On the technical side I created motion graphics and animated elements in Adobe After Effects, and used a wide variety of effects and techniques in that program to accomplish the compositing and timing needed for the video to really work.
